The Kapit RHINOCEROS Association, a dedicated NGO in Sarawak, Malaysia, is committed to empowering local communities through a range of impactful programs. 1. STEM Education and Youth Development
In collaboration with Singapore's Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College and Asian Journeys Ltd, the association has been instrumental in promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education among local schoolchildren. By integrating STEM subjects into the Dual Language Programme (DLP) in schools like SMK Selirik, SMK Kapit, and SK Methodist, they have reached over 300 students, enhancing their proficiency in English and scientific literacy. 2. Support for Traditional Arts and Music
Recognizing the importance of cultural heritage, the association has supported the establishment of a brass band at SK Lepong Baleh by providing musical instruments worth over RM30,000. 4. Promoting Sustainable Agriculture
Efforts are underway to establish Kapit as a hub for stingless bee honey production. By introducing smart farming techniques and upgrading processing and packaging facilities, the association seeks to empower local communities, particularly within the Upper Rajang region, to engage in sustainable agriculture practices that can enhance income and food security.
